American Osteopathic Students and COMLEX Exams

Should we no longer require passing COMLEX scores from American osteopathic students who do not wish to practice medicine?

What if the above student wishes to do research in immunology!

The primary purpose of the COMLEX exams is to evaluate the knowledge levels and skills of the osteopathic school grads for practicing medicine in the US. By the same token, the primary purpose of the American osteopathic schools is to train students for optimal practice of medicine in the US. If an osteopathic students does not wish to practice medicine, but s/he successfully completes his/her academic requirements, then s/he must receive his/her DO degree.  What is your opinion on this matter?
